Update: This is going to be a one-day tournament on Saturday, July 25. Your team can register online now and pay by July 10.

The Bridgeville Athletic Association is hosting an adult coed softball tournament as part of this summer’s Bridgeville 125th Anniversary celebration, and registration is officially open.

On Saturday, July 25, the teams will take to field at Chartiers Park for a friendly competition.

This is meant to be a fun tournament, not cut-throat, so whether your team is full of veterans or first-timers, there’s a spot for you.

THE BASICS

When: Sat, July 25 (see schedule below)
Where: Large Field, Chartiers Park, Bridgeville
Who: Adults 18+, coed teams
Cost: $200 per team
Registration deadline: July 6 (Max of 8 teams)
Waiver & payment deadline: July 10
Ages: 18+

TEAM RULES

  • Teams may play with 10–16 players. Minimum of 8 to play; fewer than 8 players is a forfeit.
  • Must have at least 3 women on the field at all times.
  • Defensive alignment: Max of 10 players on field.
  • Batting order must be structured so that no more than 3 men bat in a row.
  • If a male player is walked (intentional or not), the next female batter may choose to walk or bat.
  • The batting order can be the 10 players on the field, or the entire roster (10-16 players)
  • Misconduct by any single player gets their entire team expelled from the rest of the tournament with no refund.

GAME LENGTH & PUNCTUALITY

  • Forty-minute drop-dead time limit per game (Saturday only). Maximum of 7 innings.
  • The last full inning played counts as the official score.
  • 1–5 minutes late: forfeit your first at-bat.
  • 5+ minutes late: forfeit the game.
  • 10-run limit per team, per inning.

Mercy Rule — A game ends automatically if, at the end of an inning, a team is ahead by:

  • 15 runs after 3 innings
  • 12 runs after 4 innings
  • 10 runs after 5 innings

FIELD & PLAY RULES

  • No metal cleats.
  • This is a 1-pitch tournament — fouls are outs.
  • A pitcher’s net will be used and cannot be moved.
  • No sliding at home. A commitment line will be marked between third base and home plate.
  • Arc rule will be
from the top of the batter’s head to double the batter’s height.
  • A “carpet behind plate” system will be used by the umpire — hits the carpet = strike, misses = ball.
  • The BAA will provide balls and bats. These are the only balls and bats permitted during the game.

PLAYOFF SEEDING TIEBREAKERS

Tiebreakers for playoff seeding are determined in this order:

  1. Overall record
  2. Head-to-head result
  3. Runs allowed
  4. Coin toss

MORE THAN JUST SOFTBALL

The tournament is part of the larger Bridgeville 125th Celebration, so there will be plenty going on at the park beyond the diamond:

  • Food and drinks for sale, with breakfast starting at 7:15 AM
  • 50/50 drawing
  • Cornhole, bocce, and many other activities for kids of all ages on the small field
