At this month’s Bridgeville Area Historical Society presentation, Georgeanne Abood Henson will discuss the World War II experiences of Bridgeville-area servicemen who became prisoners of war.
For Abood Henson, it’s a story with a personal connection: her grandfather, George Abood; his cousin, George Shady; and their boyhood friend and neighbor, Peter Calabro, all grew up on Baldwin Street, served as Army Air Force crewmen in World War II, were shot down, and ended up in the same prisoner of war camp.
The presentation begins at 7:30 PM in the Chartiers Room at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department (370 Commercial Street, Bridgeville 15017). Admission is free.
