The meeting is opened with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence for the sick, handicapped, departed, military personnel of the community and a special moment of silence for our former Borough Manager, Paul Amie and our beloved former Mayor, Donald Dolde who both recently passed away.
W. Henderson stated that he would like to recognize JoAnn and Cheryl with the Chartiers Valley Boys Soccer Boosters Club. This past weekend the Chartiers Valley Boys Soccer team held their annual alumni game. Players from as far back as 1978 were in attendance. Each year the organization selects a recipient of the proceeds for the event as they teach our children how to give back to the community.
This year the organization overwhelmingly selected the Bridgeville Flood Relief Fund as their recipient of the proceeds. Prior to the game a heartfelt synopsis of the event was read to the crowd. It was very moving. He stated that he would like all the families and businesses that have been impacted to know that your fellow residents and neighbors within the Chartiers Valley School District have your back.
JoAnn stated that they were able to raise $268.00 and that is a combination of $128.00 from their 50/50 raffle, another $80.00 from the winner of the 50/50 who donated the majority of her winnings back and another $60.00 in donations from their fans. They presented a check for $268.00 and stated that they sincerely wish all the flood victims the best.

M. Weise stated that near her alley on Chartiers Street, there is a part of the guide rail that is no longer fastened to the ground. If anyone would hit it, they could go over the hill. The same with Chestnut Street, the guide rails are sitting in the air. She stated that she believes school buses should not
be permitted travel on Chartiers Street.
She also stated to please contact PennDOT and ask for a roadway from USC across South Fayette to 1-79 and maybe in the future to Rt. 43.
John McCans – 731 Mill Street

Mr. McCans stated that Bridgeville Day on the Avenue Car Cruise went well. We had 130 cars of which 101 registered. The dash plaque from last year’s “Best of Show” was a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria. This year’s winner was Jim Stadler of Carol Township with his 1956 Capri Lincoln that will be
on next year’s plaque.
He also stated that at the Planning Commission meeting, Carolyn is beginning to start Step 3 of the Baldwin/Bower Hill Project. She will be back at the end of the month and a special meeting will be held in mid-September along with diagrams, perhaps a schedule and an estimated cost. It is my goal to get through that step in 2018. He spoke about bond underwriter’s and to see if we can get bond funders for 30 million dollars.
He stated that he is retiring in 2018. He issued letters of resignations for his positions. He recommends Bert Cherry or Dale Livingston for the Planning Commission and from a treasurer’s standpoint, he recommends Ronald Womer. Please try to replace him asap.
John Duncan – 120 Werner Avenue

Mr. Duncan wanted to know if anything will be done with Werner Avenue. He stated that the hillside is coming down onto the railroad tracks and the guide rails are falling through. It’s getting worse because of all of the rain.
Engineer Sites stated that we will probably have to place a retaining wall there.
Pasquale DeBlasio – 132 Pennsylvania Avenue

Mr. DeBlasio stated that John McCans and the Planning Commission have done a wonderful job at planning the future with the Baldwin Street/Bower Hill Project. He stated that with funding, he would point out that the $488,000 of Borough dollars and the $300,000 grant; he would like Council to consider giving that money for the flood.
Nicholas Ciesielski – 734 Maple Street

Mr. Ciesielski stated that he is sponsoring an event for the Bridgeville Flood Relief on Saturday August 18th from I lam till 9 pm at Triangle Park. He has an assortment of bands lined up. There will also be baskets that will be raffled off. They will be taking donations all day. Please stop down. Thank
you to the Borough and the Board for helping us through this rough time.

Mr. Steck questioned when Maple Street will get cleaned and if something is going to be done with the wall as well.
Engineer Sites stated that he is meeting with the contractor this week.

Mr. Fryer stated that the flooding problem in Bridgeville will not be solved by having retention ponds in Upper St.Clair and Bethel Park. We need to widen or deepen the creek bed. He spoke about the bridges in Bridgeville. He suggested leaving Bower Hill Road at 2 lanes from McLaughlin Run to
Washington Avenue.

Ray Ahrenholtz – 615 Winfield Street

Mr. Ahrenholtz stated that he has been a resident of Bridgeville for 30 years and he has noticed more and more people from Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair cutting across Winfield Street at excess speeds. He mentioned placing a Stop sign on Winfield and Lafayette Street. There is a 4-way stop on
Winfield and Sarah Street one block over. He mentioned maybe placing speed bumps on Chartiers and Bank Street. He stated that he has spoken to the neighbors and if he needs to put something in writing; he will gladly do so.
Fred Valentino – 142 Carol Avenue

Mr. Valentino thanked Council for taking a lot of the heat from the community. He stated that he has lived in Bridgeville since 1946. In 2004 when Hurricane Ivan hit; he stood in the driveway on Darby Way and watched the water go past the Dairy Delight, over the creek and come into Babette’s, he watched it in 2013 and then again on June 20th of this year. He suggested building up the banks of the creek. He asked to please consider placing 3 foot jersey barriers on the creek to build the sides up and widen the creek at the end of Carol Avenue.

A motion was made by B. Ghelarducci, seconded by V. Schneider approving Resolution No. 2018-08 as per PennDOT requirement 1.10.14 Signs and Banners Across State Highways; a resolution designating the intention of the Bridgeville Borough to place one(1) banner across State Route 50 to be
installed August 14, 2018 and removed September 14, 2018 for the Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church Annual Food Festival to be held September 7, 8 and 9, 2018. All in favor, motion carried 7-0.

J. Verduci stated that we have already incurred $58,00.00 of expenses from the flood and that doesn’t include the extra wages as well as the 2 major vendors that we had to employ during this event. We are cutting purchasing down to be very diligent.

J. Colosimo stated that the parks are up and running except for McLaughlin Park that is closed indefinitely. J. Verduci stated that the Borough and the BAA work together well.

Mayor Copeland stated that we have had a lot of loses this month, one of which was Donald Manzini. She wished Mary Weise a Happy Birthday. She read a letter addressed to the Bridgeville Police Department dated July 6, 2018. She stated that the Bridgeville Methodist Church’s theme for August will be for Refugees and Immigration. It starts at 7 p.m. and all are welcome. She stated to please stop by afterwards for the fundraiser at Triangle Park for the flood victims.

Ray Ahrenholtz stated that the Bridgeville Library is a nice facility and there is a lot of stuff for the kids to do. You also have free access to go on line for the flood victims or anyone if needed.
BRIDGEVILLE PARKING AUTHORITY REPRESENTATIVE
Engineer Sites stated that work on Lot #5 is progressing; it’s supposed to be done by the end of the month. We are rehabilitating the facade at the entrance along Station Street, changing the configuration of the layout of the parking spaces to pick up a few extra parking spaces which will be sealed coated and new bumper blocks installed.

Nino Petrocelli Sr. stated that he is going to make a motion next month to recommend the Baldwin Street Plan to Council.

J. Verduci stated that September 30th is Bridgeville/South Fayette Rotary’s Annual Chili CookOff. The tickets are $10.00 to enter. Come and taste over 20 plus chili’s, beer, and stuff for the kids to do.
They are also doing a raffle for 4 club tickets for the Penguin’ s v/s Montreal game which are also$ l0.00 to enter.
