Democrat Betty Copeland won the Bridgeville mayoral race Tuesday night, defeating incumbent Pat DeBlasio by 31 votes, according to unofficial, but complete results.

In the borough council race, Republicans Bruce Ghelarducci and Joe Verduci will remain on council for four-year terms, as will Democrat William Henderson.

Republican Virginia “BJ” Bott-Schneider was also elected to a four-year term.

Former councilman Nino Petrocelli Sr. will return to office for a two-year term after defeating Republican challenger Bob Fryer.

Tuesday’s results maintains local Republicans’ 4-3 majority on borough council.

As Bridgeville’s new mayor, Copeland, 83, will oversee the police department, declare states of emergency, and perform other duties that come with the office.

Notable among the night’s non-winners, Democrat Deborah Colosimo narrowly missed out on the chance to join her husband Joe Colosimo on council.
