The final phase of a three-part plan to improve McLaughlin Run Park should be completed later this year, thanks to a $215,000 grant the borough was awarded last month.
The matching grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will help pay for:
- New restrooms at the park
- A repaved parking lot
- Additional skateboard equipment
- Two new small pavilions
- A wider walking trail with a turnaround so that public works trucks don’t have to drive backwards down the path.
The borough will map out a construction timeframe after it receives the requisite contracts from the state.
The work isn’t expected to interfere with normal summer activities at the park.
