July 6, 2017 By Tim McNellie

A photo of the reconstructed sidewalk on Washington Avenue in Bridgeville near the railroad overpass near the Collier Township border.

Pedestrians walking along Washington Avenue near the railroad overpass will no longer have to decide whether it would be safer to use the sidewalk or to simply walk in traffic. Gone is the crumbling concrete walkway that had deteriorated into dirt, rocks, and holes that filled with water during rain and froze over during cold… [Read More]

Safety Is ‘Top Priority’ At Railroad That Still Hasn’t Fixed This Terrible Sidewalk In Bridgeville

May 13, 2016 By Tim McNellie

Photo: Google Maps

The front page of Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway’s website says that community safety is a “top priority” at the company. Council Meeting Preview: LED Streetlights And More Parking Spaces

March 11, 2016 By Tim McNellie

This photo from Bellingham, Washington illustrates the difference between LED and some older-style streetlights.

Bridgeville may authorize the conversion of 400 streetlights to use LED fixtures that cast a whiter light and use less energy that the borough’s current lamps. The switch could save the borough $26,000 per year in lighting costs. Council is expected to vote on the matter at the Monday, March 14 meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. Also… [Read More]

November 11, 2015 By Tim McNellie

A toll booth arm swings upward

For too long, Bridgeville has been spending taxpayer money maintaining the crumbling, potholed mess that is Bower Hill Road. That would be fine if Bower Hill Road was some infrequently traveled local road that should fall under the borough’s jurisdiction. But let’s be honest, Bower Hill Road—including the part that lies within Bridgeville’s borders—is a major… [Read More]
