The borough is looking for residents interested in filling a vacancy on the Bridgeville Parking Authority Board. This is a volunteer position with a five-year term.
The parking authority oversees Bridgeville’s public parking infrastructure—lots, payment kiosks, parking permits, etc. Board members meet on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.
Earlier this year, the authority faced some criticism when it quietly shifted Bridgeville’s meter enforcement hours to later in the evening in hopes of raising revenue from local business patrons.
Around town, there are many opinions about the parking authority. Some people believe it’s a humble quasi-government agency that operates a decent parking system in a small town with limited resources. Other people view the authority as a sort of radical splinter group hell-bent on keeping the money flowing from parking meter to employee salaries, no matter the effect on the borough. Many people have opinions somewhere in the middle
Residents interesting in serving on the authority should send a letter of interest and resume to borough manager Joe Kauer at jkauer@bridgevilleboro.com or by mail at 425 Bower Hill Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017.
Deadline to submit is December 20.
ZONING HEARING BOARD VACANCY
There’s also an opening on the borough’s zoning hearing board. This board serves as an appeal panel for variances and special exemptions to the zoning ordinance and hears appeals on decisions made by the Zoning Officer. The position is voluntary, has a five-year term, receives no compensation and meets as needed throughout the year.
