With the clock winding down on the 2020 U.S. census, Bridgeville officials are urging residents to fill out a census form as soon as possible.
Paper questionnaires were mailed to households earlier this year.

Simply put, the U.S. census is a mess this year. Deadlines keep changing. Distrust of the government is running high. And there’s global pandemic going on.
But regardless of all that, small communities like Bridgeville need every resident to fill out a census form. If Bridgeville’s population is undercounted this year, the borough stands to miss out on considerable sums of money in the form of grants and other funding for roads, parks, flood prevention, and other improvement projects.
“It’s very important that we get a full count,” said borough councilman Joe Verduci. “In the past, that hasn’t always been the case.”
Nationwide, only 74% of households have been counted by the census as of this week. In Allegheny County, less than 70% of households had been counted as of last month.
The deadline to respond is Sept. 30.
