As the South Fayette park & ride lot on Route 50 enters its final week of operation, the owner of the that property is preparing to turn the site into an approximately 50,000-square-feet dining complex, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The site plan for The Piazza calls for five buildings arranged in a C-shape around a plaza, four of them likely having restaurants with outdoor seating and one for retail. The other buildings will be stand-alone facilities that will feature a bank and another restaurant.

Construction is expected to begin this fall, with the restaurants opening next year.
Two decades ago, the 8.5 acre site was home to a short-lived movie theater called Star City Cinemas, then a shorter-lived discount movie theater. South Fayette Township purchased the land for $5 million a decade ago and sold it for $3.5 million last year to Burns & Scalo Equities.
South Fayette officials approved the Piazza proposal in May.
