Maybe those tax increases are paying off!
Chartiers Valley is now the best school in the suburbs, according to Pittsbugh Magazine‘s recently released rankings.
The magazine’s write-up says that:
Very few public school districts in the area can boast as many rigorous high school course offerings as Chartiers Valley, which ranks fifth with 25. And fewer still can match the South Hills district’s performance in getting its students to take advantage of those courses, with 93% participating, which ranks third overall. With decent SAT scores and a full-day kindergarten program, Chartiers Valley is worth a closer look for house-hunting parents.
Pittsburgh Magazine
The magazine’s methodology assigns each data point a score from 1 to 4 based on where it ranks relative to other districts on the list.
Chartiers Valley’s most recent average SAT score—1,108—was improved from the previous year, but still just 21st in a field of 46 schools.
However CV’s high number of AP classes, its all-day kindergarten, and its comparatively-low tax rate propelled the district to the top of the rankings.
