Upgrades to Bridgeville’s Parks Are in a Holding Pattern

March 8, 2019 By Tim McNellie

Some planned improvements to Bridgeville’s parks are likely to be delayed, thanks to a lost grant application and the borough’s current budget outlook.

Councilman Joe Colosimo, who heads Bridgeville’s parks committee delivered an update at February’s council meeting.

“McLaughlin Run Park is in a state of limbo,” he said. “Bridgeville submitted a grant application, but the state apparently lost the paper work.”

As for Chartiers Park, the borough is developing a comprehensive plan, Colosimo said. The park has some glaring problems, he noted, including flood damage and a parking lot that might your car’s suspension a good test.

“Right now, we just don’t have the money,” Colosimo said. “We’re working on another grant for that, but that’s probably down the road somewhere.”

In the immediate future, Colosimo said, the borough may be able to carry out some smaller, low-cost improvements to keep up appearances.
