Many people have tried and many people have come up short, but this could be your year.

This could be the moment that you prove yourself the greatest chili maker in the southwest suburbs and beyond.

This could be the year that you earn the right to call yourself the King of Cayenne.

The Queen of Cumin.

The Capsaicin Kid.

The Masta Blasta of the Wooden Spatula.

The Jalapeno You Can’t Contain-O.

Spice God 412.

We’re talking, of course, about the 12th Annual Bridgeville-South Fayette Rotary Club Chili Cook-off at Fairview Park.

Scheduled for Sept. 30, this daytime celebration of the world’s greatest comfort food draws nearly 1,000 people and provides great exposure for restaurants, businesses, and non-profits whether as a chili contestant, a vendor, or a sponsor.

There’s also plenty of room for individuals who wish to compete in the cook-off.

Contestants are divided into three categories:

  1. Restaurants
  2. Individuals and non-food related businesses
  3. Non-profits

Contestants in each category have two chances to win—there’s a Judged Tasting Award, and then a People’s Choice Award.

There’s also a “Best Decorated Booth” award.

The event gets bigger each year, and it’s always fun time for visitors. This year will including live music, a photo booth, ice cream, a bounce house for kids, and plenty of vendors.

If you’d like to participate in this event as a cooker, vendor or a business sponsor contact the Rotary as soon as possible. The deadline is Sunday, September 10, 2018.
