Bridgeville’s Day on the Avenue: FAQ

June 15, 2018 By Tim McNellie

What is Day on the Avenue?
It’s community day, but with a cooler name.

When is it?
Saturday, June 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

What’s going on there?
Part of Washington Avenue will be closed to traffic and there will be dozens of tents with food, games, raffles, crafts, a classic car cruise, and more. There’s live music, too.

After the day winds down, the Bridgeville Athletic Association is hosting a movie in the park night at Chartiers Park. The feature film is Jumanji. The concession stand will be selling popcorn and other movie snacks.

Will it rain?
Nope. It might be a little hot, if anything.

How much does this cost?
It’s a free outdoor event. It costs nothing to attend.

If you mean how many of your tax dollars are being spent on this, the answer is: $0. The event is funded entirely by donations.

What will traffic be like?
Washington Avenue will be closed to traffic from Hickman Street to Bower Hill Road. Parking will be restricted on parts of Hickmaen, Chess, Station, Gilbert, and a portion of Murray Avenue, according to the Bridgeville Police Department. Parking and traffic restrictions will run from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

This stretch of Washington Avenue will be closed most of the day on June 17, 2017.

What will all of this look like?
Glad you asked! Here’s a cool video from 2012’s Day on the Avenue:
