“I Don’t Know If This Is Good Info, But…” Says Tipster Who Helps Police Nab Package Thief

March 15, 2018 By Tim McNellie

At first, Bridgeville police weren’t having much luck identifying the package thief who was caught on camera stealing a baby blanket that had been delivered to a resident’s house earlier this month. Although the department had put video and photos on Facebook, leads weren’t panning out.

Then one day, a resident saw police chief Chad King on patrol and asked about the investigation.

“I don’t know if this is good info, but…” said the resident.

The thief in the video had a skateboard, the resident recalled. A man with a skateboard sometimes walked along Bower Hill Road toward an apartment building.

It wasn’t much, King admitted, but it was the right area and worth following up.

King looked up the apartment building, recognized the address from a drug overdose call last year, and decided to stop by.

From there, the crime nearly solved itself.

“When I walked up on the back porch, the box that he had taken was sitting there with the lady’s shipping address on it,” King said. “We call that a clue.”

There’s a bit more to the story, which you can watch in the video above.
