Local Police Departments Launch Food Drive to Benefit Needy Residents

February 20, 2018 By Tim McNellie

A food bank donation box filled with canned goods and other non-perishable items

Officers from the Bridgeville Police Department and four neighboring forces launched a food drive yesterday to benefit the Bridgeville Community Food Bank.

Between now and March 12, residents wishing to donate can bring non-perishable and non-expired items to drop boxes around town (see list below).

Donations will be delivered to the food bank by March 15.

The drive is organized by police officers from Bridgeville, South Fayette, Collier, Scott, and Heidelberg.

Operated out of Bethany Presbyterian Church, the Bridgeville Community Food Bank distributes groceries to needy families within the Chartiers Valley and South Fayette School District communities.

Distribution takes place on the third Saturday of every month from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the church.

For more information about food bank donations or distributions, visit the church website or call at 412-221-5132.
