Mr. Seltzer recognized the efforts and commitment of the School Board Directors on behalf of the district in conjunction with National School Board Month. Mr. Seltzer also recognized 1995 graduate Commander Jason Deichler who was recently named to the post of commander of the USS Pittsburgh nuclear submarine by the U.S. Navy.
The Nutrition Group’s Brenda Wineland and Daphne Hiles gave an informational presentation on NutriSlice, an online menu system recently incorporated by the district. In addition to listing menu items, NutriSlice provides important dietary information such as allergens and carbohydrate counts.

The Board approved a motion to allow the Preliminary Act 1 Budget for the 2018-19 school year to be made available to the public for review in accordance with Act 1. The Secretary to the Board will provide no less than 10 days notice to the public of the meeting at which the 2018-19 preliminary Act 1 budget shall be adopted. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the regularly scheduled Board meeting, 6:30 p.m. in the District Assembly Room, was designated for the adoption of the Preliminary 2018-19 school district Act 1 budget.
Board President Tony Mazzarini commented that with the approval of the Act 1 Preliminary Budget, the Board leaves open the opportunity, if needed, to raise taxes to the maximum allowable limit, according to state guidelines, in the enactment and approval of the final 2018-2019 budget.
The Board approved the Parkway West General Operating Budget for the 2018-2019 school year. The Parkway General Operating Budget is $6,428,563. Chartiers Valley SD share is $505,337.05. The Board also approved the Parkway West Jointure Budget for the 2018-2019 school year. The Parkway Jointure Budget is $703,183. Chartiers Valley SD share is $72,952.50.
