Saturday’s Ron Schott Memorial Softball Tournament Is More Than Just Softball

September 29, 2017 By Tim McNellie

Join the community on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Chartiers Park in honoring the life of Ron Schott, who passed away in 2014.

Although the event is called the Ron Schott Memorial Softball Tournament, it’s so much more than just softball.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and continues all day long. In addition to softball, activities include food and drinks for sale, a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing, a basket raffle, kids activities, and more.

Proceeds go toward scholarships for Chartiers Valley students and other community needs.

After Ron passed away, family members and friends wanted to create a way to honor and celebrate someone who made a difference throughout the community. With the softball tournament as the centerpiece, the tournament last year helped fund two scholarships.

For more information on the event or the scholarships, please contact Tim Wesley at tmwesley@zoominternet.net.

To donate, contact Debra Jenkins at 412-841-4909.
