
Plans to build a UPMC hospital in South Fayette have been put on hold as commissioners wait for the results of an upcoming study of the project’s economic impact.
The owners of the site where the hospital would be built agreed last week to fund the study, which will be conducted by a third party.
The Tribune-Review’s Eric Eisert notes that some South Fayette residents have expressed concern about the hospital:
Mike Pugliese, who lives at Newbury and is opposed to the proposed hospital, said he purchased his home with the promise of a neighboring retail center, not a hospital. But he said some residents see the facility as good for the township.
“A lot of the neighbors are pitted against each other on this issue,” he said.
