The $80 million high school-middle school complex that Chartiers Valley is building looked pretty amazing in the original design sketches.
It looked even cooler in a video rendering that the school’s architect, IKM, released two weeks ago. IKM’s software makes a tour of the campus feel like the opening credits to a prime-time TV show.
We thought that only thing could make this better—the greatest, grandest TV theme song of all time: Dallas.
This is beautiful. The swooping aerial shots. The sun glistening off of the side of the building. Chartiers Valley’s marching band should be required to play Dallas at the ribbon cutting ceremony and at the start of every school day thereafter.
If you want a behind-the-scenes look at the ideas that went into designing the new campus, IKM has published a 17-minute mini-documentary featuring architects, teachers and students.
The new campus—which will incorporate both new construction and the renovation of existing buildings—ditches old notions of how learning environments should look, feel, and function.
