Council Approves $5,000 Settlement In Land Dispute

May 10, 2016 By Tim McNellie

In a special meeting last week Friday, borough council approved a $5,000 settlement in a land dispute involving the borough, Upper St. Clair, the Bedner Farms Estates development, and councilman Neil Lyons (who wasn’t a councilman when this began and who didn’t attend the special meeting).

From the Tribune-Review’s Jim Spezialetti:

The dispute stemmed from a section of Main Street that was never completed to the border line shared by Bridgeville and Upper St. Clair. Lyons claimed he owned the unfinished area. In 2013, Bridgeville officials settled a lawsuit filed against the borough by Bedner Farms Estates that enabled the developer to apply for permits to build.

As part of the settlement, Bridgeville will pay Lyons $5,000 (basically the money the borough saved by not going to court); Bedner Farms Estates will pay Lyons $15,000; and Lyons acknowledges that the borough owns the land.
