UPDATE: Szpara won.

It looks like the race to be the Democratic State Representative nominee in District 46 could come down to the absentee ballots.

Right now, Collier Township’s Joe Szpara holds a slim lead over Cecil Township’s Jesse White (who represented the 46th district for four terms until losing his seat in 2014).

In a Facebook post this afternoon, White said that a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter told him Szpara leads by 100 votes and that the race is officially too close to call.

A few hours prior, Szpara said that, “For now it’s a win, but not over yet!”

The race is so close that the Washington Observer-Reporter called it for Szpara, then deleted the story.

Whoever eventually wins will face State Rep. Jason Ortitay, the Republican who defeated White two years ago.
