Use Your Camera to Help Document Bridgeville’s History

Do you have a camera and some free time? Then the Bridgeville Area Historical Society wants your help in documenting how the borough’s busiest streets have changed over the years.

The Historical Society has an archive of historial photos from around town. Now, they want to match those images to photos of the same locations taken in 2015.

More specifically, the Historical Society wants photos of every current building on Washington Avenue from the intersection of Washington Avenue and Chartiers Street to the intersection of Washington Avenue and Station Street. They are also looking for photos of every current building on Station Street, Railroad Street and Baldwin Street (which was one of the original commercial ways through Bridgeville).

If you have older photos of those locations, the Historical Society is interested in those, as well.

But that’s only half of the project — they are looking for volunteers to match the old photos to new photos.
To get involved, call 412-221-4052 or stop by the Historical Society’s headquarters at 441 Station Street. The hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
